2011 St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival

Saturday, March 12, 2011.
Thanks to the thousands of folks who made the 2010 Alltech Lexington St. Patrick's Parade and Festival

a great success.  Central Kentucky’s Celebration of Irish Culture  was held in CentrePointe on Main Street thanks to the generosity of The Webb Companies and was full of fun from 11:00 AM until closing at 7:00 PM.

The Parade & Festival will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011 in downtown Lexington. Festivities will begin at 11:00 AM after the Shamrock Shuffle 3 K Race and continue until 1:00 PM when the 32nd Anniversary St. Patrick’s Parade will again march on Main Street.  The Festival will resume after the parade until 7:00 PM. Once again, all activities will be under tents so weather will not hamper the festivities. There will be free family and children’s activities throughout the day as well as continuous Irish entertainment with musicians, dancers, pipers and much more.  Vendors will provide Irish delicacies, drink and Irish products.
Fallen Heroes Named
Honorary Grand Marshals

Local area police officers and firefighters that have died in the line of duty were named the Honorary Grand Marshals for the 31st Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.  A combined marching unit consisting of police officers and firefighters lead the parade to honor their fallen comrades. Given the long history of the Irish serving as both police and firefighters it is especially appropriate to honor these heroes.

Tragically, another Lexington Police officer was killed in the line a duty a month later.

Beginning December 1st, 2010
